Market Day (7/23): Lion’s EyeMobile & Food Demo

July 23, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

ASHLAND LIONS EYEMOBILE

  • Free screenings will be offered by trained volunteers in the area of blood pressure, vision, glaucoma and hearing.
  • A very new piece of equipment called a Spot Vision Screener which does not come in contact with the eye will also be in use for children ages 3  up to 10 to screen for six different eye diseases. Parental supervision or authorization is required.
  • Please note that there is no handicap access.

FOOD DEMO @ 10:00

  • Join us for a cooking demo by Chef Christopher Ryan from The Residence at Valley Farm.** He’ll be using fresh ingredients from the market to make a gazpacho, the classic chilled soup.

DANCE PERFORMANCE @ 11:15

  • The dancers of Backstage Dance Company will perform excerpts from Sleeping Beauty during the intermission.

ON THE EDGE KNIFE SHARPENING

  • Bring your tools and knives for proper sharpening to Patti in the white van. She comes to our market the fourth Saturday of each month.

  • Executive chef at Sherborn Inn or 8 years
  • Long time chef instructor for Share our strengths “no kid hungry” initiative, having taught over 20 6-week classes on cooking, nutrition and food budgeting skills to people at risk of hunger
  • Chef Ryan will be making Gazpacho with ingredients from our local farms
