Opening day, this June 11th, 2017,the Ashland Farmer’s Market was packed with many neighbors, families, and friends all of whom gathered to enjoy the fine vendors selling everything from vegetables to ice cream to art. This year’s market welcomed  some new additions including Crust Bakery, Fig and Co. Mercantile, JaJu Pierogi, Empanada Dada, and  Ken & Gina’s Amazing Organic Ice Cream.

Crust Bakery offered a variety of artisan breads and baked goods including cookies, croissants and pastries. Fig and Co. Mercantile did not disappoint with  many wonderful fresh foods including puff pastries and salads. JaJu Pierogi brought a piece of Poland to Ashland with their traditional polish dumplings made from their Jaju’s (grandfather’s) handwritten recipes. The Empanada Dada food truck brought Cuba to Ashland with  mouth watering empanadas, sandwiches, and rice bowls.

Ken and Gina’s Amazing Organic Ice Cream  cooled folks down with nut-free organic ice cream, made from scratch with dairy and eggs coming from  local farms. Foodie Cafe returned  with their larger food truck. Daniel’s Table’s mission is to end hunger in Framingham using the profits from their food trucks. They provide almost 10,000 meals every month to those in need.

The Carve was packed as usual, and many of our returning vendors expanded their selections. Julie’s Z Breads offered Belgium waffles, fried zucchini bread and a special breakfast muffin. The Artisans at the market were also hard at work selling their handicrafts. Mischu’s Closet sold items such as felted soaps, and other items made with wools from various animals including alpaca and llama. Niro Art Studio brought the talents of air brushing and paper quilling on various items to the market. Two Orange Cats Jewelry brought handcrafted jewelry made from anything from sea glass to silverware. The Market also co-hosted a Celebrity Read Aloud with Friend of the Ashland Library with a wonderful read-aloud by Cara Tirrell, which many children flocked to listen to.

Saturday’s 6/17 market will celebrate sustainability and green living, and in honor of that the Kids Corner will have a recycled craft. The Artisans will be Giulietta The Muse, Social Catalysts Charitable Foundation, and The Domesticated Wild Child and the new additions that will be seen next week will include Samira’s Homemade bringing Middle Eastern delicacies including hummus and tabouli and You Love Bakery bringing Greek Cypriot dishes including baklava and spanakopita.
